How to succeed at RLI (or anywhere)
Below are a few ideas that may help you succeed:
- Increase your intensity. Each of us has only so much time on
this earth. Focus your attention and energies. Avoid distraction. Do
one thing at a time to the best of your ability.
- Leverage your time. Work with others, each with a specific
assignment. Together everyone achieves more because everyone brings
all their experience and knowledge to the task of the team.
- Self-improvement is a life-long job. It is the only job you
can’t quit. Those who increase their skills, enhance their
knowledge, and develop their intelligence become more valued by
others.
- Make good connections. We are all interdependent on others. You
are known by who you "hang around with." Choose these people
carefully.
- Be willing to change. Be the first to master the new system. Be
a student and help others.
- Trust is important. Treat others as you would like to be
treated. You will find the practice very profitable.
- Avoid quick fixes, impulsive thrill-seeking and immediate
gratification. Avoid the evils that come from short-term acts. Plan
for positive outcomes for tomorrow and make them come true.
- Find means to cut waste, cut costs, increase productivity, and
make your product or service better and more accessible.
- Do it right the first time. Inspections, audits, complaints,
loss of customer good will, and rework waste time and increase
expense.
Most importantly, approach every meeting with a positive, can-do
attitude. The words ‘sure, I’ll do it’ are the sweetest words in the
universe—especially when all know it will be done right the first time.
The creator of the universe did not build a stairway to no-where. To
accomplish our purpose while on earth, we need a mission, goals, and a
plan. Once we have started our journey to a worthy, well-defined,
challenging destination, we are successful.
